I have been wanting to try a couple of new projects and decided today is the day! Back to the sewing room and my old stand-by Pfaff sewing machine. I am currently toying or playing with kitty collar slide-on's. My daughter, Megan, thought this name up along time ago when I was sewing more. I haven't sewed anything for just a long time, I was wondering if I still could! LOL

I can! They are coming out so cute. I'll upload pic's later on. Having fun!! Yay! Sewing is back in my life where it belongs.

Going to be checking out Molly Mine's Crazy Quilt in the Hoop squares later on today. She's having a sale and I'm dying to get one of those squares. I'm nervous, because I don't know how they come out but I guess if I don't purchase one, I won't know. Christmas quilt squares are beautiful and actually all the squares are beautiful. I can just see making a pillow or small wall hanging for gifts this Christmas!

Should I give them a try? Have any of you worked on any of these? Let me know!

June 30 - My Birthday

I had a great birthday this year, although I really missed my two daughters -- how could they move away!! LOL My husband and son convinced me, first of all, that a day off was in order. A day without the embroidery machines - I don't know! Decided to try it and found that taking a complete day off from work was fun indeed. I found that there was a world out there beyond the embroidery machines and appliques - who would have thought??

So, I went shopping with Andrew and we had a bite at 5 Guys. The burger was great, french fries - to die for. When we got home and I decided I didn't want to go out for a birthday dinner as well, so we stayed in. I cooked a petite filet of beef on my wolfgang puck grill, Andrew roast asparagus with proscuitto and I made a grilled romaine salad with blue cheese topping. I am totally hooked now on grilled salad - wow it's yummy - you've got to try it!

I sneaked in a little pool time with the pups and watched a movie later on. All in all, even though the girls weren't here, it was fun and I had a great time!

I'm Back!! It's been along time since I have blogged I know, but I'm going to change that right now. New designs are arriving and Teddy and I are very excited about them. Teddy has had a hard time concentrating on is embroidery lately, since he got and killed a snake in the back yard. LOL He was amazing and has been feeling very "king" like ever since. I suppose I will need to make a "king's crown" for him soon!

Hope you enjoy the new designs - even more will be arriving this week.

The book contains the patterns and embroidery designs for finishing the quilt. I'd like to make another - it was lots of fun!

Since we have had a new addition to our BigBlackDog family (Maggie, rescued March 6, 2010), we have been busy enjoying her company and learning her personality. She has inspired us to begin a new project. We are pleased to announce that we will be offering handmade, crocheted afghans on our website. Our first product will be a afghan of earthtoned hues, soft blue, green, browns and eggshell. These colors are inspired by Maggie's beautiful fur. Teddy and I are busy working on Christmas presents. We are currently making scrapbook recipe albums for a couple of people for Christmas. Along with the recipes we are adding our appliques for embellishments and journaling about past experiences that relate to the recipes. It's alot of fun! Teddy and I are sad that it looks like summer is ending. We have enjoyed the sun, the pool and all our friends.

Now that school is starting, we must look ahead to fall and that means Halloween. Teddy loves Halloween - all that orange and "Black" ! Teddy likes this cupcake because it has lots and lots of extra, yummy frosting!

Bigblackdog is going to vet today. Of course it has to rain, thunderstorm and basically scare him to death! T does not like storms. Doesn't mind getting wet or playing in water - but the water coming down from the sky must not make a sound! LOL poor T. Wish me luck getting him into the vet office - have to take along my muscle, Andrew (my son) .

Spring is here! Planting time at my house. We are very busy getting our new garden planted. Andrew, my son, has been working for 3 months to build a fence strong enough to keep the "bigblackdog" from playing with the vegetables. We think he has succeeded. Teddy got into the garden through the fence once, and got stuck inside, and it started raining. Pour Teddy was scared.

I am currently working on new cupcake appliques as well as some animal appliques. So check out bigblackdogdesigns on Etsy for updates.

Teddy looks alittle bewildered with the snow today. He certainly didn't know what do with it. He mostly liked to bite it off the chairs and the cement and then eat it. This is his first snow, after all!
